Turning $100,000 Into Hope, Connection, and Support for Grieving Children and Families

At Bridge to Kids, we believe the true measure of our golf tournament isn't just what happens on the course—it's what happens because of it.

That's why we're especially proud to shine our first Spotlight On our charity partner, Dougy Center, and the incredible work they do to support children, teens, young adults, and families who are grieving the death of someone they love.

$100,000. 66 Children. One Year of Support.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, players, and supporters, Bridge to Kids was able to provide Dougy Center with a $100,000 check as a result of our 2026 golf tournament

What does that mean in real terms?

It means 66 children who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling can participate in Dougy Center's peer support program for an entire year.

For these children and their families, that support can make an extraordinary difference. Dougy Center provides a place where no one has to navigate grief alone—a place to connect with others who understand, express feelings, and find support in a safe and compassionate environment.

And the need for these services continues to grow.

In the United States, 1 in 11 children in the United States experience the death of a parent or sibling before turning 18. In our own community, that number continues to rise, making Dougy Center's work more important than ever.

Making an Impact Beyond Our Community

For more than 44 years, Dougy Center has been a leader in providing peer grief support and helping families navigate the loss of someone important in their lives.

The reach of their work is remarkable:

  • 3,348 children, teens, young adults, and family members served in the past year.

  • 2,052 peer grief support groups facilitated—the most in the organization's history and nearly a 23% increase over the previous year.

  • 162,532 podcast downloads for their acclaimed Grief Out Loud podcast in the past year, surpassing one million total downloads.

  • 346,230 people from 190 countries accessed free resources through Dougy Center's website.

  • 23,095 information, crisis, referral, and intake requests answered by Dougy Center staff.

  • 4,771 helping professionals reached through training, outreach, and education to help them better support grieving children and families.

Their impact extends far beyond the families who walk through their doors, bringing valuable resources, education, and support to communities around the world.

Looking Ahead: Introducing Dougy Center West — Malcolm's House

Another exciting milestone is on the horizon!

In January 2027, Dougy Center will begin welcoming families to its new permanent Westside home, Dougy Center West: Malcolm's House, located in Beaverton.

This 14,000-square-foot facility represents an exciting new chapter for the organization and will significantly expand its ability to serve families throughout the region.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Room to Grow: The new facility is designed to allow Dougy Center to double the number of people it serves within five years.

  • Dedicated Expression Rooms: Specialized spaces for music, art, hospital play, big energy, and other ways children and teens can express themselves.

  • A National Training Center: A dedicated space to further share the Dougy Center Model™ with professionals from across the country.

  • Podcast Recording Studio: A home for continuing to expand the reach of its educational resources and Grief Out Loud podcast.

  • Convenient Westside Location: Easy access to Highways 217 and 26, nearby public transportation options, and ample parking.

This new center is more than a building. It represents expanded access, greater capacity, and the opportunity to bring compassionate grief support to even more children and families.

Why This Partnership Matters

At Bridge to Kids, we're proud that the success of our tournament translates into meaningful support for organizations like Dougy Center.

A $100,000 donation is more than a fundraising milestone. It's 66 children receiving a year of support, families finding connection, and a community continuing to show up for those who need it most.

To our sponsors, players, volunteers, and supporters: thank you. Your participation makes this possible, and we're grateful to be part of a community that believes in making a difference.

As we look ahead to our 2027 tournament, we're excited to continue building on this impact and introducing you to the incredible people and organizations behind it.

At Bridge to Kids, it's not just about golf; it's about transforming lives, together.
